Lydia Ochieng is a born and raised Maritimer, who split her childhood in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and has known many corners of Canada. She is now an east-coaster out west; located in Vancouver, BC.
Her first post-secondary academic adventure saw her earn a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and work in environmental and structural engineering for a short time.

After finding that her early work experiences in engineering were not the right fit, she had to pivot. She drew on that which would have made her happy as a child and began laying the groundwork for a career that would involve people, writing, and fashion.
She is now a graduate of Langara College’s Journalism certificate program and the founding editor of a news-poetry blog called The Mandorla. She is currently enrolled in Blanche Macdonald Centre’s “Global Marketing: Fashion and Social Media” diploma program.

When Lydia has free time you’ll find her writing news poems for The Mandorla, reading celebrity memoirs, thrifting, singing unnecessarily, or trying new foods.
Her passion for storytelling and love for fashion come from the value she places on connection, and self-expression. She is actively pursuing opportunities and adventures in both of those areas; as an emerging journalist, content creator, and stylist.
